Q2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

With the research of other artists who focus on alternate/indie genre like Lana Del Rey for instance, we started to uncover as a group, the general conventions of this genre as a whole and how other artists sell themselves with the use of colour, personal look e'g clothes, accessories and persona to brand themselves. Like Lana Del Rey, she uses the colours red which is seen on about 60% of her website and cream which compliments the red and gives off a soft, gentle atmosphere which is brought into her music as it is soft and very sensual.

This helped our group massively with collectively bringing our artist Barde to piece together her overall vibe which would be her main selling point and which we later developed through the process of creating our main product and ancillary tasks. The three tasks all work together to piece our branding of Barde flow together; the digipak helps sell and brand the artists music type and visuals of her work, the music video is the main aspect in terms of the music and how the artists genre is presented, and finally the website brings these two together to finalise and add aspects of both the video and digipak together to both promote and brand the artist.

We gathered from research that alternate/indie culture was quite raw and authentic which we followed throughout the creation of the digipak alongside the use of an edgy font and pictures which complimented Barde as an artist with the colours green and pink to complete this. As we finalised Barde's personal look, creating the music video was what we had to express with not only still, but moving image which has to still be consistent and follow from the digipak and website. We images and Instagram links and images directly onto the website to help promote and interact our target audience with our artist. -
